The Pros and Cons of Different Carpet Cleaning Methods

There are several different methods of carpet cleaning which are available for domestic and business customers. Each method of floor and upholstery cleaning has their own advantages or disadvantages. It is important to understand these to enable you to make the right decision as to which method is best for you. Carpet cleaning Torrance was happy to explain.Carpet Cleaning Methods

Wet:

Extraction:

Very hot water is used under pressure to inject into the flooring. This water contains chemical detergents to dissolve any dirt or debris. Once the water has been allowed to soak into the flooring, it is then sucked back out with a vacuum. This is one of the most popular home carpet cleaning treatments.

This method has the ability to accomplish soil and stain removal from deep within the fibers of the flooring. However, it can require significant drying time.

Bonnet:

The flooring is vacuumed then treated with a chemical spray. This is allowed a specific time to react before being treated with an absorbent pad mounted on a specialist rotary machine. The cleaning solution can impregnate the fibers and will loosen debris which can then be removed.

This method is popular as it is relatively inexpensive and can be done quickly. However, some argue that it only provides a surface clean as it fails to allow the cleaning solution to reach as deep down into flooring as some other methods.

Dry:

Compound:

A compound or powder often made from bio degradable products is spread across the flooring and massaged into the fibers with rotating brushes. This compound acts as a detergent and can absorb particles of dirt or debris. Once the compound has set it can be vacuumed up. This method can be excellent for odor removal and freshening up stale carpet smells.

This system is very simple and extremely fast drying, however it may fail to clean deep into the fibers and can cause some dust within the environment.

Foam:

A foaming detergent is applied to the fibers of the flooring and then worked into dry foam using rotating brushes. Dirt particles cling to the foam and are then removed with a vacuum.

This method is very fast and inexpensive; it uses relatively little moisture which allows fast drying. However it can only provide a surface clean and the movement of the brushes may cause damage to the fibers of the flooring.
